Day -19 - Lazy Saturday
After a lousy night's sleep last night - hurting all over - it was time for a mixture of an energetic and lazy Saturday. I think lazy won. The day started officially at 6:30 when my alarm went off and I bumbled round the room in a semi-conscious state. First job was to wrap my catheter area in plastic wrap, not my favourite material to work with. No problem and, suitably fridge ready, I took a long hot shower. And so to breakfast. I think I ate something - darned if I can remember. My cab to the hospital (no shuttle at weekends) arrived on time and, after a short wait and a long trudge through largely deserted corridors, I arrived at my chair. The lovely nurse took a bit of a time getting my injection ready - turned out she was combining two injections in one syringe for which I will be eternally grateful.
I'm glad to say that yesterday's pain has gone away and not returned so I was able to finish the jigsaw I started yesterday, play the guitar until some of my fingers hurt and more or less slept through Casablanca, the African Queen having developed a bit of a warp, I think.
Dinner was a vast amount of Olive Garden Spag bog which I did my best to demolish but with little luck. Dinner is brought in each night by a volunteer group - I think tonight's was a church group as we were serenaded with proper Christmas carols: lovely!
And now I am heading for bed with a book of math puzzles and the second half of My Fair Lady. Tomorrow is yet another Zarxio shot or two followed by the arrival of my beloved who is craving a Thai dinner and who am I to say "No.

I remember the whole wrap-it-in-plastic thing to shower. P.I.T.A., even with two good hands. Had to have hubbie help me the first few days as I was not allowed to lift my right arm high enough to do it myself. Never used so much tape in my life.
ReplyDeleteSusan's found some stuff that sticks to skin so it's not so bad. Like you I suspect my right armpit is starting to grow its own ecosystem, though, as it's not very accessible.
