Day 0! - Transplant day

Cozily installed in room 705 for the transplant which should all be happening about an hour from now.  There's a picture of it somewhere here.  Marvin is front right - he comes everywhere with me.  The thing front left has been removed - above it is the TV with 60 channels, mostly showing adverts and snippets from Carrie Fisher movies (excluding the Blues Brothers for some odd reason).  Big brown door is the bathroom to which Marvin and I make frequent trips though he has trouble getting over the threshold.  Although it doesn't show in the photo unless you look really closely, I am hooked up to Marvin through the catheter in my chest (which they tell me I will have taken out about 10 days from now.)  Susan says the couch and the chair are pretty comfortable except that the wooden arms could do with some padding.
I've got breakfast / lunch on its way - check out the menu.  Pretty much ordered the same as yesterday.

Meanwhile I've got not much to do beyond trying to get into FAWEB at school (our report writing software which is about as much fun as root canal), wandering around Facebook and taking their dumb quizzes to find what prehistoric ruler I was in a previous life and so on and trying to get myself removed from about a dozen email lists.  I've been looking for contract work writing IBM assembler part-time from home.  Having "assembler" as one of my keywords has been a bad mistake as I get hundreds of job ads from companies that need anything assembled.  Not to mention dozens of Indian companies who think I am their ideal contracts negotiator / shipping manager and I can earn $100,000 plus for 5 hours work a week.  Something tells me that somewhere in there they are just going to need the $750 international contract fee or my SSN or maybe just my banking details so they know where to send my new agent bonus.  I am also on one republican party email list and the usual click on the link or replying with "remove" or "delete" or "go #$%^ yourself" have had no effect.  Have also set up my spam filters so that any message containing "Chip in $" goes directly to spam Hades, bypassing the trash bin completely.

11:40 and the transplant is done, total time about 20 minutes.  Christiaan Barnard, eat yer heart out (bit inappropriate, that).  I have to stay hooked up for about another hour while Marvin drips about 400 cc of saline into me.  Then back to Secu either for a walk or a nap.  I will apparently spend the rest of the day smelling of creamed corn.
