The troglodyte emerges

Blimey - a whole month since my last post.  Disgusting.  So, what's been happening?  On the health front, remarkably little.  Trump & Co are still trying to kill me off which will be a bit easier now that John McCain has died.  Although my myeloma is now in remission, the folks at Cancer Care of WNC have kept me on 15mg of Revlimid a day.  I'm going up there tomorrow to have an armful taken - maybe they'll drop the dose if the results come back looking good.  Not that the Revlimid has desperately horrible side effects - considering I am taking meds for high blood pressure and old guy's prostate, it's hard to attribute any side effect to a particular med.  If you read the warnings online, it looks like everything causes tiredness, aches and pains, diarrhea, constipation and all the other things that make dating fun.
It's been horribly hot and humid here this summer, interspersed with bucketing rain.  So much of my fitness regimen has been walking round Home Depot & Lowes suspiciously energetically but at least I've been spending the time (and a truckload of dollars) constructively.  You may recall - assuming I ever told you - that I was converting our "big storeroom" into a laundry / utility room (whatever that is - probably "large store room").  Today I applied the last dollop of paint though I still have to put the aircon vent in place.  Pictures are in order so here's a  Before and After - you can work out which is which.
We now have to decide what to do with all the crap that was previously in the storeroom.  A load has gone to Habitat for Humanity (the only problem with sending it there being that I always tend to buy something when I am there - I now have enough lightbulbs and woodfiller to build a wall between the US and Mexico.)
I have a garbage can I reserve for building scrap and that's gone out twice in the last month - jolly decent of our garbologists to empty it - I think it's because I've written a large note on the lid thanking them and telling them to be careful of the nails and other nasties likely to be lurking there.
After I've been to Cancer Care tomorrow, I plan to spend the rest of the day doing nothing.  I do have my next couple of projects lined up.  First of all I will be waterproofing the uphill basement wall which cops a lot of next door's run off.  Then I will put up some more wire shelves in the crawl space to store junk that I don't need frequent or rapid access to.  And something else I can't remember but I'm sure it's important.  Oh yeah - taking all this laundry gear out of what is now "The Mud Room" has left a hole in the floor that the dryer duct went through.  I've nailed a plank over it but really must do something a bit more permanent.
I've passed my grade 7 soccer refereeing exam so I'll be strapping on the black New Balances again this autumn, assuming I haven't splattered both pairs with white emulsion.  It's going to be an interesting season as the main soccer ground, which was flooded in spring, is still 5 cm deep in sand and rather smelly mud.
And now the bloody touchpad has packed up on this laptop yet again.  I will never buy another Toshiba or a laptop from Office Depot or one that is supposedly serviced by Asurion ever again.
