Day +100 where art thou?

Day +100 is the magic day when I find out if I am temporarily out of the woods or a shovel-ready project.  (Temporary only because what I have is incurable though people have been known to live another 15 years with it).  I have spent the last couple of months galloping towards it but now it seems an eternity away.  I have to keep exercising but mustn't overdo it - gym membership is definitely out (thank goodness).
So I boldly emailed the guy who assigns soccer games to refs and said "Give me a couple of soft ones so I can see how I go."  So the day after tomorrow I get to chase a load of 12 year olds around the field while trying to remember all the changes to the offside law as well as who I am and am not allowed to kick off the field for being loud and obnoxious among the parents and coaches (really not a big problem - I've only ever had a word with a couple of them and never needed to ask them to leave.  I am not allowed to tell them to leave but I can call the game off.)  NOAA says Saturday will be a nice day, too.
I've been getting more exercise this week in larger doses.  Rather than parking at the bottom of the hill and walking up to the house and back down, I have taken to parking at the top, walking down and walking up.  This is a longer lap as the parking area is half a mile from the house.  It also means I am less likely to chicken out at Base Camp 1.  Once I get to the bottom by the lake, I don't have much choice but to walk back up again.  There is a shuttle bus but I couldn't bear the shame of taking that.
Lake Lure is slowly filling, too, so my walks around the shoreline will soon have to return to the asphalt path rather than the sand.  Maybe it's time to check out Lake Logan instead.

  1. A hockey umpire *is* allowed to dismiss spectators from the ground, and I've done it once, too. A guy was being loudly rude about most of the players (I truly could not tell which team he was supporting) and when I asked him to tone it down a bit answered, "I don't see why I should". So I yellow carded him. Turned out to be the father of one of the captains. And this was in an adults' grade!
I look forward to hearing you welcome day 100. :-)
