Day after the last one

 I have to admit that I felt worn out after yesterday's trip to Charlotte.  Everything went very smoothly there and everyone was wonderful.  We also stayed at a new (to us) hotel near a mall south of Charlotte. I wasn't allowed to go shopping (shame!)  Needless to say I can't remember what it was called but we'll stay there again next time.

Totally buggered by the time we got home so we blobbed in front of the goggle box til about 9.  Haven't got a clue what we watched but I enjoyed it, I think.  Oh yeah, an old Monty Python movie.  No idea which one.  I think I now understand why my Dad was not amused by it - it was crap and we gave up after a while. 

Feeling mighty chipper today and rushed around and shipped almost the last of my latest batch of ebay junk, dealt with someone I had unwittingly sold a dead speaker to (I offered him his money back and he can keep it which seemed a fair compromise.  At least it's gained me enough room against a wall in the laundry to put some permanent shelving up to replace the shelves I have propped up on cardboard boxes. When I get around tuit.  Can you still buy those?

Next job - mix that convincing paint colour.  Bowels of the earth, here I come....

Oh how I love bone marrow biopsies

A longish day today, most of which fell upon the shoulders of Susan , my wife, driver, emotional support and generally wonderperson.  A not very early start got us to Charlotte a bit early to have a dollop of marrow and a chip of bone removed from my pelvis for lab examination.  All done at Atrium with amazing skill, kindness and gentleness, it was all over in an hour.  The twilight sedation left me feeling a bit dopy and they loaded me into a wheelchair rather than have me stagger around the place drunkenly.  I dozed most of the two hour drive home so I can see why they insisted on me having a driver.  It's now 8:30 and I can barely keep my eyes open.  I've also got typos in about 20% of the words so I will call it quits for tonight.  Another 3 hour trip to Messino Cancer Center here in Asheville tomorrow accompanied by a handful of steroids so tomorrow night may be a Flying High and rugby marathon. All quiet on the Western front

Now that the drama is over, I'm backing off the daily bog entries.  I'll keep the blog going and record any significant events (like today's farewell to what was left of my beard) but, other than that, it's going to be an occasional update. Today saw my first serious venture outside since Christmas - about a half mile walk on the concrete paths at J B Lewis soccer ground.  I've spent many happy afternoons there, reffing soccer, and doing around 10 miles on a good afternoon.  Today's half mile walk darn near did me in so my fitness has a way to go.  At a more appropriate level, I started the 4 dimensional map of London (it includes time) that Susan gave me for Christmas.  As I lived there, using the picture this time really would be cheating though I'm hanged if I know where various companies' head office buildings are unless they are vaguely notable / ugly (talking to you, Lloyd's Bank). I'm not in elementary school any more

Yesterday, Susan drove me to Wake Forest for another checkup and a load of shots.  (She drove because I have managed to catch an evil cold which has rendered me more moronic than usual.)  On the way there and back, we both developed a deep loathing for people driving large pickups which seem to come with a "road ownership certificate".  I got about 2 hours sleep last night, crumbling into bed and going to sleep almost instantly but waking up at 12:30 a.m. convinced that was all the sleep I needed.  I beg to differ. Anyway, I have a comparatively busy day at school today.  I suspect some of the robotics class will need a hand getting some of their monsters operational while I want to start working with the programming class on making their programs idiot-proof (I wonder if I am allowed to use that term).
