Still re-getting the hang of this

 I am rapidly coming to the conclusion that all Window apps are written by people who have never had to use a Windows app but I am determined to get the hang of it again.

Second day of chemo at Messino Cancer Care today - I didn't blog about the first one.  Not particularly grueling, starting off with having an IV line stuck in my arm followed by a couple of pints of various liquids being dripped in my vein.  The liquids are cold which is a bit disconcerting to start with though my nurse was spot on with the needle and complimented me on my pencil sized veins right on the surface of the skin.   I would post a picture but I hadn't taken my camera and my $1.95 cellphone has pathetic zoom out range.  Will try harder in future.

Today's drugs included a handful of a drug favoured by dead Tour de France cyclists so sleep may not be a major feature of my night.  I do apparently have friends in high places and TVNZ is showing a T20 cricket match between NZ and the Windies startking at 1 a.m.which should pass the gruesome part of the night pleasantly. And, for the record, I will see 240 balls (and a few no-balls) bowled over 3 and a bit hours which makes it a hell of a lot faster paced that World Series baseball.

All quiet on the Western front

Now that the drama is over, I'm backing off the daily bog entries.  I'll keep the blog going and record any significant events (like today's farewell to what was left of my beard) but, other than that, it's going to be an occasional update. I'm not in elementary school any more

Yesterday, Susan drove me to Wake Forest for another checkup and a load of shots.  (She drove because I have managed to catch an evil cold which has rendered me more moronic than usual.)  On the way there and back, we both developed a deep loathing for people driving large pickups which seem to come with a "road ownership certificate".  I got about 2 hours sleep last night, crumbling into bed and going to sleep almost instantly but waking up at 12:30 a.m. convinced that was all the sleep I needed.  I beg to differ. Anyway, I have a comparatively busy day at school today.  I suspect some of the robotics class will need a hand getting some of their monsters operational while I want to start working with the programming class on making their programs idiot-proof (I wonder if I am allowed to use that term). Getting fit (ish) again

It's amazed me how much a couple of weeks more or less in a hospital bed, a dose of nasty chemicals and a touch of kindergarten snuffles has knocked it out of me.  Susan has kept me on my back legs tromping up and down the path at JBL - we're now up to a lap and a half (the long half, the clubhouse not quite being in the middle) a day now as well as much tromping up and down the basement stairs to retrieve things and put things away. Yesterday I decided to upgrade the speakers on our main television.  Oddly enough, Samsung (and, I suspect, all television makers) don't put external speaker sockets on their televisions.  Maybe they regard that as confessing that their built in speakers are crap.  So Plan B was called for - disembowel a pair of computer speakers to get at the amplifier and hook up a decent pair of speakers to it, bypassing the cruddy speakers that are in most computer speakers.  Then plug it into the headphone socket.  The sound is noticeably...
